At Ochsner LSU Health, our thorough examinations involve procedures like cystoscopies and CT scans. Treatment for bladder cancer varies based on its stage and intensity. In many cases, endoscopic surgical resection can both stage and treat the cancer. Should the cancer be more invasive, or less responsive to conventional treatments, surgical removal of the bladder, or cystectomy, might be considered.

Our robot-assist technology makes these procedures minimally invasive. We provide both ileal conduit and neobladder options for urinary diversion post-cystectomy. We also offer the BCG treatment, a weakened bacteria instilled into the bladder to stimulate an immune response. Most importantly, we strongly recommend life-long surveillance due to bladder cancer's recurrent nature. Learn more about our innovative approach and resources here.
