Renal Consultative Services

The pathology outreach program at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport was established to unite an exceptional team of renal pathologists with advanced technology. Our team of fellowship-trained pathologists has more than forty years of combined experience and provide expert academic consultations on native and transplant renal biopsies. We are committed to providing the diagnostic support you need to ensure optimal results for your patients.

Renal Protocol

• Immunofluorescence (IF): includes IgG, IgA, IgM, C3, Clq, kappa, lambda, albumin, and fibrinogen, with BK, C4d, etc.
• Electron Microscopy (EM): includes one or more glomeruli examined per case and evaluation of tubular interstitial and vascular compartments.
• Light Microscopy (LM): includes multiple sets of H&E, PAS, Jones Silver and Trichrome stains
  

Specimen Submission

• Kits include reagents for LM, IF & EM collection instructions and requisitions.
• Biopsy kits and prepaid FedEx overnight mailers are provided.

Muscle and Nerve Pathology Services

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport provides a comprehensive neuropathology program studying diseases of the nervous system and the muscles. Our Neuromuscular Pathology services include muscle biopsy analysis, nerve biopsy analysis, surgical neuropathology consultations and autopsy brain analysis.
