Our Expert Otolaryngology Care

Cochlear Implant Center

Our hearing experts use cochlear implants (a type of electronic hearing device) if your hearing loss doesn’t improve enough with conventional hearing aids.

Otology and Neurotology

Otology and neurotology are two specialties that involve diagnosing and treating diseases of the ear. These conditions can affect both hearing and balance. Conditions our team treats include:

Audio Services

Our audiologists (hearing specialists) provide hearing tests, hearing aids, programming of cochlear implants, balance tests, and additional tests for hearing and balance disorders.

Cleft Clinic

As part of the Louisiana Cleft Team, we work with dentists, psychologists and speech therapists to provide specialized treatment for cleft palate and lip disorders.

Comprehensive Facial Nerve Program

Head and Neck Surgery

Our team offers surgical treatment of both cancerous and noncancerous tumors of the head and neck, including:

• Skull-base tumors

• Thyroid and parathyroid tumors

Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Our team offers cosmetic, functional and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. Our team is equipped with specialists that can perform state-of-the-art cosmetic procedures which may includes practices such as liquid rhinoplasty or facial nerve rehabilitation surgery for patients with facial nerve paralysis.

Laryngology/Voice and Swallowing

We treat various conditions that affect the throat, including voice and swallowing disorders. This often involves close collaboration between doctors and our team of speech therapists. Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport is home to the Ark-La-Tex's only comprehensive Center for Voice, Airway and Swallowing. As one of the only places in the South to offer extended open airway reconstruction services, and one of very few within the U.S., we welcome patients and referrals from all over. Our highly skilled team also offers in-office larynx procedures for voice conditions.

Personalized Cancer Therapy

Our targeted treatments for cancers of the head and neck involve predicting which patients are most likely to respond to specific therapies. We use our evaluations and expertise to shape each patient’s unique treatment plan.

Rhinology and Sinus Surgery

This specialty involves diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the nose and paranasal sinuses, including deviated septum (misshaping of the thin wall of cartilage that separates the nostrils), chronic rhinosinusitis (sinus infections), allergic rhinitis, .

Surgery

We use minimally invasive robot-assisted surgical techniques, which involve smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery times for our patients while still allowing us to access the small, difficult-to-reach areas of the mouth and throat.
