Our Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology Services

Our specialized team of doctors and nurses treats pediatric cancers and blood disorders in children ages birth through 18 years old. Treatments provided to our pediatric patients include chemotherapy, central venous line care, diagnostic imaging and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) imaging. Your child will have access to:

  • Registered Nurses Specializing in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
  • St. Jude Clinical Research Trials Available to Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders
  • Child Life Department with trained professionals experienced in child development, child life, counseling and psychology, and have expertise in dealing with children's concerns and reactions to the hospital and their illnesses

FAQs

The St. Jude Affiliate Program is a network of pediatric hematology-oncology clinics, hospitals and universities united to extend the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our board-certified pediatric hematologists-oncologists and certified pediatric hematology-oncology nurses follow St. Jude’s unrivaled pediatric cancer protocols when treating our young patients with the highest level of care available.

The cause of the vast majority of childhood cancer cases is unknown. A small percentage of childhood cancer cases is caused by an inherited gene mutation.

Treatment plans for cancer in children may differ from treatment plans for cancer in adults because treatments may affect children differently than they affect adults, as children’s bodies are still growing and developing. Because of this difference, pediatric oncology-hematology is a specialized field, and children with cancer or a blood disease should see a pediatric oncologist-hematologist.

The best thing you can do for your child is to help them find the care they need. It is also important that you stay positive.
